It started with an idea

Each of us encountered this idea at some point in our young lives. It was the idea that there was so much more to this world than what the eye could behold. And so we searched for what that was...the ever elusive mystery. We found that the more we tried to uncover this mystery, there was more to be found. And at one point we discovered that for a brief moment, we were immortal. We resided in the ether for just a short time and then it was gone...

Gone.

We tried to find that mystery again....we searched for that power that held us above the others as perfection in the flesh. But it was gone. Only for brief moments along the way did we see glimpses of it and wondered, could this be the source? But it wasn't. We reveled in the thoughts....and then let them go like butterflies chasing the wind.

We lost our way as we caved under the pressure of having the dream force fed to us. Some of us held on....we held closely to our hearts the memory....playing out the role of this place like actors upon the stage...gracefully hoping it would all come to an end and one day soon, the curtain call would give us relief. Then we could go home, kick off our shoes and shut reason out.

I've let it linger inside me.....held tightly to the hope of finding the source again......but one day....not so long ago....I let it all go. I let go of my hope of ever finding that source, I let go of hoping to have the drama end. I found that I was surrendering to the fire of the dream and all I could hope for was that I'd be so oblivious to it that the death of the idea would come quick and painlessly. It was when I let it all go, surrendered my will, that I was found by source itself and it brought with it a gift.....a reminder.

Here is my message to those who are still hoping for a glimpse...for those who have yet found it....and for those who have crossed with me over and over again....

I forgive you for all things past, present and future. I release you of any bind that may have tied us together. May you go forth and find exactly what you are meant to find and may source bring to you your mission in time for our reunion.

Go forth now and spread this message.....you have to start by letting go, forgiving....allow your hearts to open up....trust me...trust yourself. There is more to come.

Namaste my friends.

Save some money, save the environment

Many of you know . . .
Malach, back in April began changing all the bulbs in his home to compact flourescent, eventually getting as much of his 2000 square foot house as he could (about 96%) with those bulbs (Wal*Mart has good deals on this, 3 packs for $10). So, I was updating how much less energy I was using, and money I was saving, but I haven't done that in a while, so here it goes.

Last year from the billing period of April 06 - September 06, my house used 5335 KWH costing $578.21. This same period from 2007: 4732 KWH, costing $512.85 saving $65.36 and 603 KWH. This also considers we had a hot summer this year, and I ran my central air for a longer period of time than I normally would. Also, I did not have a full complement of energy saving bulbs until the first week of June, so some of this is a little skewed. Still extrapolate it out for a year comes to approximately $130. Now, I spent this on bulbs, but the bulbs are guaranteed for 5 years . . .

The winter will be interesting as my heating system burns more electricity than gas. I will keep you updated.

More on Malach Energy Savings

Malach the greenie
Many of you know Malach began in April gradually replacing all his incandescent bulbs with energy savers in his home. At this point 98% of the bulbs are done (the one remains are old fixtures and the bulbs don't fit). So, here is where we are at (billing dates for 2006/2007):

April: 712 KWZ (2006) 640 KWZ (2007). This was with only about 50% of the bulbs replaced by the end of the month. In addition spring was very mild so the heat was not on at all in 2007 (Forced air, uses Electricity).
May: 690 KWZ (2006) 664 KWZ (2007). By the end of the month of May 98% of the bulbs were replaced
June: 710 KWZ (2006) 715 KWZ (2007). Strange? Not really, Early Summer was very hot this year, and I had the Central Air on for about a week and ceiling fans on most of the month. Last year, it was pretty mild.
July: 736 KWZ (2006) 658 KWZ (2007)

So comparing the two quarters from 2006 and 2007, I have a savings of 171 KWZ, which comes out to $19.99503 is savings. Extrapolate that to a year? $59.98509 over the average 5 lifespan of the bulbs? $299.925445. Not bad. I will keep you updated as I continue with this experiment.
By the way, Wal-Mart sells these bulbs, both the spiral and globe in three packs from $7 to $10 depending on the size and style.

I am Malach and Al Gore had nothing on me.
